1. "Do you have a life motto? If so what is it?"
I wouldn’t call it a motto as such, but I’m definitely very much about three things: Live life to the fullest, have a go, and be kind while you’re doing it.
Living life to the fullest: I think it’s so easy to get caught up in the process of going to the gym, going to work, coming home, putting on the television, and then doing it all again the next day. I try to avoid this as much as possible - either through travel (when I get the chance), making the most of my weekends by being outside whenever I can, and just even making choices like walking to places rather than driving (when possible).
Have a go: I get it, having a go can be scary. Leaving your comfort zone and pushing yourself can be overwhelming. But I definitely believe the rewards outweigh the fear. This year I’ve thrown myself into so many uncomfortable situations - and while anxiety comes in bucketloads beforehand, afterwards I literally feel I could run a marathon I’m on such a high!
Be kind. Always: I DO NOT UNDERSTAND TROLLS. I just do not know why there is ever a need to put anyone else down. I do understand that sometimes people can annoy us and we have a little vent, but I try to avoid this as much as possible. Let’s try and always be kind. Be kind to others and be kind to ourselves.
2. What would you say to people wanting to pursue something they are passionate about?
I’m definitely very pro people pursuing what they’re passionate about - but I also do think they need to be wise in their decision to jump. Gain experience in the relevant field and maybe test out the waters a bit first. For example, if you want to be a PT - maybe try and get a few clients before quitting your day job.
3. How do you stay true to your authentic self?
I think staying true to your authentic self comes with having confidence in your sense of self and being comfortable with saying ‘no’. Leaving my stable full-time job to launch a website definitely came with its fair share of questioning (funnily enough, not from my boyfriend or family who have been incredibly supportive), but I believed in myself and stood my ground even though I realised from the outside that it might look like I was making a crazy decision. I think this has taught me the importance for sticking up for what you believe in - the importance of following your beliefs and feelings rather than what may seem like the right or easy path.
4. What’s your favourite way to de-stress after a long day?
I love going for an evening stroll - especially if it’s summer. In fact, my favourite de-stress activity in summer is to head to Bondi Beach with my partner and go for a walk and swim. We often just lie in the water at dusk - and it feels so peaceful.
5. What are your top tips to staying motivated?
I like to write a list of all the things that need to get done - and just looking at that helps motivate me to get going. I also like making myself little goals - ones that are achievable so I’m not left disappointed if I don’t get there. And the last thing I do is have someone that keeps me accountable. One of my good friends also has a website, and we have a meeting every week to look at whether we’re on track with the different tasks we had set out to do. It definitely helps to make sure I don’t let my work ethic slide!
